Beans Poriyal Cooking Recipes

Ingredients :

turmeric (haldi) powder

salt

oil

mustard (raee) seeds

lentils (dhuli urad daal)

red chilies, whole

onion, chopped

green chilies, chopped

coconut (fresh), grated

salt to taste

Method :
  1. Remove the strings from the beans and chop finely.
  2. Boils beans in water (1 cup) adding turmeric powder and salt, cook until beans are almost done.
  3. Drain excess water and keep aside.
  4. Heat oil in a wok.
  5. Add mustard seeds, lentils and whole red chilies.
  6. When mustard seeds begin to crackle, add chopped onions and green chilies.
  7. Stir fry for 4-5 minutes.
  8. Add beans and stir fry till beans are cooked.
  9. Add salt to taste and the grated coconut, stir and remove from fire.
  10. Serve immediately accompanied by a curry dish and steamed rice.
