Baked Figs with Grand Marnier Cream and Raspberries Recipes

Ingredients :

12 ripe fresh purple figs

1 tsp mixed ground cinnamon and cloves or Chinese Five Spices

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup water

1 cup nonfat plain yogurt, drained in cheesecloth in a strainer for 2 days in refrigerator

2 tbsp sugar

1/4 cup Grand Marnier

1/2 cup raspberries

Method :

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prick the figs with a fork in a few places and place them in a baking dish. Combine the spices and brown sugar. Sprinkle over the figs and then add the water to the dish. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes, basting often. Combine the thickened yogurt with the sugar and Grand Marnier. Place the figs in serving dishes. Top with a dollop of yogurt and a few raspberries. Note: To make a fig and berry gratin, spoon the flavored yogurt over the cooked figs, add the raspberries, and place under the broiler for about 5 minutes, until lightly browned.

Serves 4
