Baked Figs with Grand Marnier Cream and Raspberries Recipes
Ingredients :
12 ripe fresh purple figs
1 tsp mixed ground cinnamon and cloves or
Chinese Five Spices
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 cup nonfat plain yogurt, drained in
cheesecloth in a strainer for 2 days in refrigerator
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
1/2 cup raspberries
Method :
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prick the
figs with a fork in a few places and place them in a baking dish.
Combine the spices and brown sugar. Sprinkle over the figs and then add
the water to the dish. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes, basting often.
Combine the thickened yogurt with the sugar and Grand Marnier. Place the
figs in serving dishes. Top with a dollop of yogurt and a few
raspberries. Note: To make
a fig and berry gratin, spoon the flavored yogurt over the cooked figs,
add the raspberries, and place under the broiler for about 5 minutes,
until lightly browned.
Serves 4
Fresh figs are the treat of late summer
and are wonderful paired with raspberries. The Grand Marnier cream adds
a level of complexity that makes this a voluptuous dessert.
