Chinese Sprouts Cooking Recipes

Ingredients :

450 g

5 ml


2.5 ml

15 ml

Brussels sprouts, shredded

sesame or sunflower oil

spring onions, sliced

Chinese five spice powder

light soy sauce

Method :
  1. Trim the Brussels sprouts, then shred them finely using a large sharp knife or shred in a food processor.
  2. Heat the oil and add the sprouts and onions, then stir fry for about 2 minutes, without browning.
  3. Stir in the five spice powder and soy sauce, then cook, stirring for 2 - 3 minutes more, until just tender.
  4. Serve hot, with other vegetarian Chinese dishes.

Serves 4

Note :

If you are bored with plain boiled Brussels sprouts, try pepping them up with this unusual stir fried method, which uses the minimum of oil.

Cooking Tip :

Brussels sprouts are rich in Vitamin C, and this is a good way to cook them to preserve the vitamins. Larger sprouts cook particularly well by this method, and cabbage can also be cooked this way.
