Potatoes au Gratin Cooking Recipes

Ingredients :

medium size potatoes

butter or margarine

all purpose flour

small clove garlic, finely chopped




cheddar cheese


Method :
  1. Scrub the potatoes and prick them with a fork.
  2. Microwave on high 100% for 12-13 minutes.
  3. Put the butter and garlic in a 1 quart glass measure.
  4. Microwave on high 100% for 11/2 minutes.
  5. Whisk in the flour, pepper and salt.
  6. Put the milk in a 2 cup glass measure.
  7. Microwave on high 100% for 3 minutes.
  8. Stir the hot milk into the flour mixture.
  9. Microwave on high 100% for 2 minutes.
  10. Stir, and microwave on medium 50% for 2 minutes.
  11. Stir in the cheese.
  12. Peel and slice the potatoes and arrange them in an 8-by-8-by-2-inch microwave casserole.
  13. Pour the sauce over the potatoes, stirring until the potatoes are coated.
  14. Sprinkle with the paprika.
  15. Microwave on Medium 50% for 5-7 minutes until the potatoes are tender.

Serves 4-6

Note :

A warming dish for a winter's day, and one that can be prepared in a fraction of the time required with conventional cooking.

Cooking Tip :

Never store potatoes in the refrigerator, and always store them separately from onions-both vegetables tend to spoil more quickly when kept together.
