Honey Baked Beans Recipes

Ingredients :

225 g haricot beans

3 tomatoes

1 medium onion

3 lean bacon rashers

75 g clear honey

1 tsp French mustard

pepper

2 tbsp olive oil

Method :
  1. Soak the beans overnight in cold water.
  2. Drain well.
  3. Cover with fresh cold water, bring to the boil and then simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Drain well and put into a greased ovenware dish.
  5. Skin the tomatoes and discard the seeds.
  6. Chop the flesh roughly.
  7. Chop the onion and bacon rashers finely.
  8. Add the tomatoes, onion, bacon, honey, mustard and a good seasoning of pepper to the beans and stir well.
  9. Pour over the olive oil.
  10. Cover and bake at 325F, Gas 3 for 2 hours.

Note :

A variation on the traditional baked beans which has a subtle flavor. The beans are very good served with fresh tomato sauce.
