Curried Lentils Recipes

Ingredients :

225 g lentils

600 ml stock or water

pinch of salt

1 tsp turmeric

1 tbsp oil

1 tsp garam masala

2 tsp chopped fresh herbs

1 medium onion

1 tsp curry powder

1 tsp curry paste

Method :
  1. Put the lentils into a pan with the stock or water, salt and turmeric.
  2. Bring to the boil and then simmer for about 45 minutes until the lentils are soft and the liquid has been absorbed.
  3. Heat the oil and cook the finely chopped onion until soft and golden.
  4. Stir in the curry powder, curry paste, garam masala and herbs and cook over low heat for 3 minutes.
  5. Stir in the lentils, reheat and serve hot.

Note :

Known as dahl, this tasty lentil dish is an accompaniment to curry, but it is also good with meat, poultry, sausages, game or fish.
