Minced Peas and Potatoes Cooking Recipes

peas, minced

potatoes, small, diced

green chilies, chopped

ginger, peeled and chopped

tomatoes, chopped

clarified butter (ghee)

cumin (jeera) seeds

cloves (laung), ground

cinnamon (daalchini) sticks (1"), ground

peppercorns, ground

coriander powder

turmeric (haldi) powder

red chili powder

coriander fresh

garam masala

salt to taste

Method :
  1. Blend the green chilies, ginger and tomatoes to a purée.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Heat clarified butter (60 ml or 4 tbsp) in a kadhai (wok) and brown the minced peas till the oil separates.
  4. Set aside.
  5. Heat clarified butter (1 tbsp), add the cumin seeds, fry for a few seconds.
  6. Add the browned peas paste, cloves, cinnamon, peppercorns, ground coriander, turmeric powder, red chili powder and cook for a few minutes.
  7. Stir in the green chilies, ginger and tomato purée, bring to the boil.
  8. Mix in the diced potatoes and cook till potatoes become tender.
  9. Season with salt and garam masala, garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.

Serves 4 - 6

Preparation time : 10 minutes

Cooking time : 30 minutes
