Snake Gourd Kootu Recipes

Ingredients :

medium sized snake gourd, remove skin and cut into pieces

dhall

green chilies, sliced

large onions, sliced

thick coconut milk

mustard seeds

sprig curry leaves

water

ghee

Method :
  1. Boil dhall in 2 cups water till cooked.
  2. Add the gourd and cook till almost tender.
  3. Remove from fire.
  4. Heat 2 tsp ghee in a pan, add sliced onions, chilies and mustard seeds.
  5. Fry for 2 minutes.
  6. Add boiled vegetable, coconut milk and salt to taste, stir well, simmer gently over low heat.
  7. When the vegetable is cooked, remove from heat and add curry leaves.
