Lemon Barley Water Recipes

Ingredients :

75 g pearl barley

1.8 liter water

3 lemons

75g sugar

Method :
  1. Put the barley and water into a pan, bring to the boil and then cover and simmer for 30 minutes,
  2. Strain the liquid into a large jug.
  3. Peel the lemons very thinly without any white pith.
  4. Remove the pith from the lemons and slice the fruit.
  5. Put the fruit and lemon peel into the jug with the barley liquid.
  6. Stir in the sugar.
  7. Leave until cold.
  8. Strain into a clean jug.
  9. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Note :

An old fashioned drink which is very refreshing in hot weather. It is also nourishing and digestible for invalids.
