Caraway Barley Biscuits Recipes

Ingredients :

50 g barley flour

50 g wholemeal self raising flour

50 g light soft brown sugar

50 g butter

1 egg

1 tsp caraway seeds

Method :

Preheat oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. Grease 2 baking sheets. Stir together the flours. Cream the sugar and  butter until light and fluffy. Add the flour and beaten egg alternately to make a soft dough. Stir in caraway seeds or alternative flavoring. Roll out thinly on a floured board and cut into shapes. Place on the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 8 minutes. Lift carefully on to a wire rack to cool.

Small sweet biscuits which are good with puddings or ices. If caraway flavor is not liked, use a pinch of ground nutmeg, cinnamon or ginger instead.
