Creamy Potato Gratin With Herbs Recipes

Ingredients :

675 g

300 ml

waxy potatoes


onion, finely chopped

garlic clove, crushed


crème fraîche or double cream

Gruyère cheese, grated

chopped fresh mixed herbs, such as chervil, thyme, chives and parsley

freshly grated nutmeg

salt and black pepper

Method :
  1. Place a baking sheet in the oven and preheat to 190oC/375oF/Gas 5.
  2. Peel the potatoes and cut into matchsticks.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Melt the butter in a pan and fry the onion and garlic until softened.
  5. In a large bowl whisk together the eggs, crème fraîche or cream and half of the cheese.
  6. Stir in the onion mixture, herbs, potatoes, salt, pepper and nutmeg.
  7. Spoon into a buttered ovenproof dish and sprinkle over the remaining cheese.
  8. Bake on the hot baking sheet for 50 - 60 minutes, until golden brown.
