Girdle Scones Recipes

Ingredients :

1/2 cup wholemeal

1 cup rye meal

2 rounded tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

30g butter

milk

Method :
  1. Sift dry ingredients together, tipping any bran remaining in the sifter into the mixture.
  2. Cut in the butter and mix to a soft consistency with the milk.
  3. Turn on to a floured board and pat into a circle, cut into 6 segments and cook on a hot girdle (griddle) or hot plate, 6-8 minutes as side, turning only once.
  4. Have the girdle hot, but not so hot that the bottoms burn before the center is cooked through.
