Place all the ingredients except
the maple syrup, flaxseed oil, and nuts in a medium saucepan and
stir to combine.
Bring to a boil.
Cover and reduce heat to low.
Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring
once or twice.
Remove from heat and let sit,
covered, for 2 to 5 minutes.
Stir in maple syrup and flaxseed
oil, if using.
Sprinkled one tbsp nuts over each
serving, if desired.

roast them in a skillet over medium heat, stirring often, until fragrant
